Southeast Louisiana, God's country.
How did you become a part of the Skinny Water Culture Collective?
Vince and I had a Facebook discussion about how the return of A Tribe Called Quest is the only way to suppress a new generation of fish hipsters. Things escalated from there.
On a serious note, Vince and I had talked about designing some SWC Louisiana-themed gear, and things grew from there. SWC is real, and everyone could use a little more real.
What are your hopes for the future of fishing?
Personally, that Louisiana figures out its coastal land loss and privatized water issues, and that those after me can enjoy how incredible our ecosystem is here for generations to come. I've been fortunate enough to have some really solid flats fishing trips recently, and I'd like to continue to travel as much as possible, both for different species and the new experiences. I've met some of the best people I know through fishing, and experienced some really awesome places. I hope that continues.
On a bigger scale, I'd like to see fishing (and hunting) continue to grow, but I'd like to see a little bit of a decline in this whole social media-created idea that fishing is more about how you look than what you're doing. At the end of the day, fishing should be about having fun with your friends, learning, and living.
