How did you become a part of the Skinny Water Culture Collective?
Like SWC, my social media journey in the fly fishing realm began with a blog back in 2008. Through the "blogosphere," I stumbled upon Vince Stegura and his fledgling company and was intrigued by the company's style, attitude, and appreciation for the experience. I own and cherish one of SWC's first microfibers and I still wear it fishing all the time. My experiences with SWC's Collective began with a DIY excursion into the Caribbean with the Fly Fishing Nation in 2011. I was fortunate enough to spend a few months sleeping on couches, kitchen floors, and on beaches discovering bonefish, tarpon, and the occasional permit along the way. However, my love for fly fishing in shallow water situations began long before my initial forays into the salt. In 2016, you can find me on a SUP, exploring Delmarva's backwaters while sight casting flies to monster tidal carp.
What are your hopes for the future of fishing?
I am optimistic that the future of fishing is in great hands. As more and more people (especially the youth) discover the sport, they will gain an appreciation for natural pristine environments and the fish that reside there. I am hopeful that this new generation of anglers can join with existing ones to push for regulations to clean and protect sensitive environments and the species that we all cherish.
