Both not available on the website.
This month we will be tying a Schminnow Fly. This is a very basic and easy fly, but also extremely effective for dock lights and beach side snook.
Start your thread in the middle of the shank and work your way back.
Take a good size piece of Temple Fox, be sure to pull out all the under fur. Tie it in just before the bend of the hook.
For the tail you can use many different materials Marabou, Ostrich Herl etc…. All have great action and will work perfectly with this fly.
Now work your thread forward to tie in your eyes, then work your thread back. Be sure to leave enough room for a weed guard, this fly is predominantly used in dock light situations so a weed guard is a must.
Tie in your chenille just in front of your tail material, then work your thread forward to the front of your eyes.
Palmer your chenille forward, be sure not to trap or palmer over any of your material. Clip your chenille just behind your bead chain and wrap it off.
Tie in your weed guard and thats all there is to it. The very simple yet very effective Schminnow Fly.
